This project is a contemporary cultural landmark that offers a comprehensive interpretation of the Great Wall's history, military systems, and engineering legacy. Designed to harmonize with its historic surroundings, the architecture adopts a restrained palette of grey stone and wood, integrating seamlessly with the mountainous and coastal terrain. The spatial form draws inspiration from the Great Wall itself, using abstracted elements such as battlements, arrow slits, and watchtower motifs to guide a visitor's journey through layers of solid and void. Interior spaces are organized around the concept of a walled city, with strong geometric volumes contrasted by warm timber finishes to evoke a balance of strength and intimacy. Passive design strategies such as courtyards and skylights reduce energy use, while renewable systems—including a ground-source heat pump and rooftop solar panels—contribute to the building's net-zero energy performance. This project exemplifies how contemporary design can respectfully reinterpret cultural heritage through architectural innovation and environmental responsibility.
