Description
How difficult is it to initiate a connection in public space, especially in a part of the world where social interaction can be challenging as a result of cultural etiquette?
Designed specifically for Dubai Design District public space, project aspires to elevate brand value through user experience, place-making and community building. A unique graphic design identity covers an interactive installation in the form of oversized ping-pong table where several people can meet impromptu and play triggering social interaction.
Weaving the carpet of connection, relationship with tradition and imagination of a collaborative future were project’s core values, which is a journey exploring sustainable design and multiculturality. Reminiscent of ornaments found in local crafts and motifs of Arabic carpets, combinations allude to interweaving multicultural fabric of Dubai. Strengthening social impact of communication design while relying in integration of landscape and architecture, a reconciliation among the two is materialised.
