Description
The Museum of Dongting Lake stands as a cultural centerpiece within the Dongting Expo Park. The complex features four specialized exhibition halls while promoting regional ecological development.
The building's distinctive silhouette widens toward the top, creating a floating appearance inspired by traditional ceramics. Its façade incorporates bamboo-formwork GRC panels with embedded natural elements that reflect local character.
The design overcame significant challenges, including water exposure on three sides, through an integrated approach that maintains each hall's unique identity while sharing central facilities. It also connects urban areas to the waterfront while creating purposeful public spaces.
The building achieves China's highest green building certification through innovative sustainability features including a breathing façade, roof gardens, geothermal heat pumps, and rainwater harvesting.
The museum complements Dongting Lake's natural beauty and cultural significance as an architectural landmark. It bridges humanity and environment, establishing a new paradigm for cultural institutions while celebrating the ecological and historical importance of the region.
