Beijing Renze High School
Description
This project is an ongoing urban renewal and transformation project located in the core area of the Inner City of Beijing, specifically in the Shichahai district. The site is steeped in history and has been a witness to the prosperity of science and education films. The buildings within the site were constructed over a span of half a century, featuring diverse architectural styles and distinct temporal marks.The primary design challenge is to integrate these buildings with varying historical characteristics and to harmoniously blend new living content with the existing traces of the old factory area. We have adopted a carpet-style approach to assess each house individually, identifying and organizing the most valuable historical elements. These elements are then reconnected through a spatial narrative logic of a new educational institution, creating a rich and immersive educational space. Within this space, each house narrates its own history while providing new revitalized areas and application scenarios, infusing the new education with uniqueness and diversity.
